Time frame

Our sales guy called today. He confirmed what I'd mentioned in my previous post about the road alongside our development being closed. He said he would call us again in a week or two to schedule our first meeting with the project manager. I asked about the time frame for construction and closing and he said that he expects we will be breaking ground in September. Closing is still expected to be in mid-November. I'm dubious about that construction schedule, which would be anywhere from 60 to 90 days. Does that sound right? Meanwhile, I'm still worried about a potential interest rate hike that could turn the whole project into a disaster.

My wife and I have been discussing Thanksgiving. Our closing date is projected to be just before, but there is a real possibility it could be delayed until after. Either way, we will probably be knee-deep in boxes and partially-dismantled furniture. It's certainly going to be a messy affair this year, but it would be wonderful to have Thanksgiving in our new home.

  1. Yes, 60-90 days sounds about right. Ryan builds pretty quickly. Our home is taking about 66 days to build. I think that its perfect that your neighbors are having a baby that your child will possibly grow up with. That would be awesome to enjoy thanksgiving in your new home with your family...I'm hoping to ready for a family gathering by Christmas.

  2. I think you must be confusing us with someone else with respect to babies. Also we don't know any neighbors yet. But we do have a couple of grown up babies who will hopefully join us for Thanksgiving.

  3. That time frame would be very reasonable. Our waverly was built in 86 days - this is from ground breaking to final walk through. It depends on which upgrades you have chosen (a finished basement adds almost a week and granite in the kitchen adds time, etc). The house just down the street broke ground more than a week after us and was finished a few days before us, but it's smaller. I think it's a venice.

  4. We are building an Avalon and the estimated build time was 85 days...looks like we will be more like 93 days, but our framing took almost 2 weeks...since our framing was completed, they have done 2 more houses...both took about 3-4 days to complete the framing.

  5. We are building a Waverly and is projected to be done in 90 days (June 1st to August 29). As of right now, it is on schedule even with the added custom requests. It would be great to be in the new house for the holidays...we hope it all works out for you. We look forward to following you in your journey.
